fencing - is it beneficial or an accident waiting to happen?
In today's world of shortcuts and easy fixes, and with advertising
the way it is - it would seem like the electric fence is
the answer to many problems. The manufacturers and retailers
1. it allows your dog untold freedom because it is the ultimate

so-on and so-on ad-infinitum
am not going to address the above points because, in my
opinion, the electric fencing containment systems should
be outlawed. I will present my views as to why and you can
make your own decision.
1. The collar that your dog will be wearing can be setoff
by a garage door opener, an airplane, the electronics in
a passing car, or like all devices can malfunction. When
any of these items mentioned above happen your dog is electrically
shocked and there is no escape.
2. A dog without a collar can come on your property and
maul and kill your dog.
3. If a dog wants to run through the "containment system"
he will and even if this only happens once his reward could
be getting killed by a passing car.
4. It is abuse. Why? Because the dog cannot relate to electricity
and becomes afraid of the ground because he does not know
where the shock is coming from. I thought training involved
love and patience not zapping your dog so he can learn.
5. Using this type of system does nothing for your relationship
and bonding with your dog. If you cannot spend the time
to train and exercise your animal then you should consider
getting a pet rock.
above items are only the tip of the iceberg as to why a
containment system should not be used. I will not go into
it any further because if the above reasons are not valid
enough to dissuade someone then more rhetoric will not change
